授業の目標   
英語教員になるために必要な英語音声学の基礎知識を身につけ、現場での発音指導に活かせるよう、受講者自らの発音スキル（特に英語のリズム・イントネーション）を向上させること。
 
Goals of the course   
To acquire basic knowledge in English phonetics and to improve pronunciation skills in English that are necessary to become an English language teacher.
 
授業の概要   
毎回の授業で英語の発音の特徴についての講義およびそれに基づく演習を行う。
 
Overview of the course   
Lectures on the basics of English phonetics will be given. Students will work on many exercises to improve their pronunciation skills in English.

成績評価の方法・基準   
授業内での発音練習への積極的な取り組み(20%)、発音実技課題(20%)、筆記小テスト(20％)、アクティブ・ラーニング課題(20%)、および期末試験(20％)により、総合的に評価する。アクティブ・ラーニング課題の詳細および評価方法については、授業で説明する。
 
Grading system for assessment   
Active participation in pronunciation exercises in class (20%), pronunciation tasks (20%), review quizzes (30%), Active Learning tasks (20%), and final written exam (20%). Details of active learning tasks and their assessment will be explained in class.
 
事前・事後学習【要する時間の目安】   
授業外でも定期的に発音を練習し、日常的に発音矯正のための努力を行うこと。
 
Preview/review   
Students are required to practice English pronunciation regularly.
 
履修上の注意   
教員の指示に従って、受講前の予習と受講後の復習を行うこと。
教職課程認定上の教科に関する科目(中学校及び高等学校　英語)の英語学に該当します。

「英語学１(教職音声学1）」（春学期）と、「英語学１（教職音声学2）」（秋学期）は、授業内容としては通年ものになっています。両科目・両学期とも同一テキストを使用した同一内容の授業が2クラス開講されます。原則として、同じ教員が担当する教職音声学の授業を春学期・秋学期と続けて、同年度に履修するようにしてください。尚、春学期の授業のみの履修は可能ですが、秋学期の授業は、春学期の授業を履修済みの場合のみ履修できます。
 
Notes   
This course is part of the English Language Teacher Preparation Program.
Two classes are offered by two instructors, using the same textbook and covering the same content.
Students are required to take two quarters of the course under the same instructor.
The spring quarter course is a prerequisite to this fall quarter course.
