授業の目標   
1．英米型とドイツ型文化研究の基本的差異を認識すること
2．「文化」概念の近代における変容を知ること
3．文化研究と文学研究の関係、前者の後者への応用可能性と後者の前者へ拡張可能性について考察を深めること
 
Goals of the course   
1. To understand the difference between the British-American Cultural Studies and the German Kulturwissenschaften
2. To get acquainted with the historical change of the concept of “culture”
3. To deepen the inquiry into the relationship of the Cultural Studies / Kulturwissenschaften as well as their applicability to the Literary Studies
 
授業の概要   
文化研究は英米とドイツそれぞれにおいて別々の起源に発し、大きく異なる展開をしてきたが、双方に共通する問題関心も多い。「文化」概念の歴史的変容とも大きく関わるこの経緯をまず概観し、それぞれがどのような特徴を持つのかを明らかにしてゆく。次いで、ドイツ文化研究固有の展開を、様々な領域に関して考察してゆく。特に身体論、記憶論、メディア論を中心に論じる。さらに、従来型の文学研究への影響を考える。
 
Overview of the course   
British-American Cultural Studies and its German pendant Kulturwissenschaften are of different origin and motivation. Accordingly their progresses differ from each other. Yet there are not few interests they have in common. This depends on the historical change of the concept of “culture”, which will be overviewed at first with respect to its characteristics. Then the course will focus on the German Kulturwissenschaften and their unique development. Fields such as body-theories, memory-theories or media-theories will come into question. And finally, their possible influence on the conventional literary studies will be considered.

 文化研究と文学研究まとめ試験は実施しない 指定された文献を精読し、レポートを提出すること。期限は10月末。 映像作品（絵画、映画、彫刻）、音楽作品を自由に選び、文化研究的観点からレポートを提出すること。期限は11月末。 Cultural Studies and Literary StudiesSummary Read the assigned literature and turn in the report on it until the end of October. Turn in the report on the audio-visual artworks (painting, film, music et al.) at your own choice from the viewpoint of the Cultural Studies until the end of November.

授業への積極的参加（40％）／レポート（60%）により総合的に評価する。
