自分の専攻言語／地域言語Aや学んでいる言語が，世界の言語の中でどのように位置付けられるのか，どの言語とどこが似ていて，どこが異なるのかなどについて，相対的に捉える視点を早い段階で身につける。さらに，今後，各自が特に興味を持つ言語・文化についての理解や運用能力を高めていくための素地を養成する。

The goal of this course is to make a better understanding of the 27 major languages taught at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies from a perspective of contrastive linguistics. Furthermore, to create the basics for deepening an academic interest in languages/ cultures and developing practical abilities of the major languages.

専攻言語／地域言語Aとして開講されている27言語の基本的構造や使用法の特徴，使用地域の文化・社会などについて，そのエッセンスと魅力，学習のポイント等を，などについて，各専攻語の担当教員がリレー形式で１言語１時限に集約して紹介していく。なお、言語の順序は、教員の都合により変更することがある。

This course consists of 12 lectures given by 12 instructors. In each lecture, instructors pick out one of the 27 major languages and will give the basic knowledge of the language, such as the characteristics of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and writing systems. They will also touch upon the culture and society of the area and country where the language is spoken. The order of the lectured languages is changeable according to circumstances.

初回ガイダンスで紹介する参考図書等により言語学の基礎知識について自習したうえで，各回で扱う言語に関する基本情報を下調べしてから授業に臨むこと。
|
|
|

Students should try to collect some background information about each lesson in prior to class and review their notes after class.
|
|
|
・受講希望者が300名を大幅に超えた場合は，何らかの形で受講者数を制限する。
・受講希望者は必ず初回授業（ガイダンス）に出席すること。遅刻は厳禁。
・各回で扱う言語が変更になる場合もあるので、授業でのアナウンスおよび Moodle でのアナウンスに注意すること。
・毎年度春学期の受講者が多く受講制限をする場合が多いので、国際社会学部の学生は秋期に履修することを勧める。

Student numbers will be capped at around 300 to ensure an effective learning experience.
Students should make sure to attend the first lecture to register for this course. Please do NOT be late for the first lecture.
The language(s) which will be delivered in every lecture may be changed. Please pay attention to official announcements in every class and the latest information sent in TUFS Moodle.
It is recommended that students of the School of International and Area Studies attend this course in the Fall quarter because there comes a huge number of students in the Spring quarter every year.
