[COIL] 'Development': is it saving the world or making a change in your community? - Is Japan the final destination of 'development'?
 
授業の目標   
このコースでは、日本および世界におけるNGO、INGO、国連機関による教育、環境、ジェンダー、保健、社会起業家精神といった分野における開発援助をインタラクティブに理解します。オンライン同期（リアルタイム）・オンライン非同期（オンデマンド）の2つの形式で授業が行われ、米国と日本の学生の間でのコラボレーションの機会も予定されています。
 
Goals of the course   
This course is designed to provide interactive methods to understand the development by NGOs, INGOs and United Nations, in relation to education, environment, gender, health and social entrepreneurship, in Japan and throughout the world. It is composed of two formats both asynchronous and synchronous to make collaboration happen between students in the US and Japan.
 
授業の概要   
このインタラクティブなコースでは、私たち全員の未来に関わる「開発援助」を主題として扱います。この主題をより包括的に理解するために、日本だけでなく世界の具体的な事例を検証しながら、主に5つの分野に取り組みます。それらの分野は次のとおりです。
・教育分野：特に教師の役割、テクノロジーの使用
・環境分野：特にエネルギー、災害、企業の役割
・ジェンダー分野：特に開発におけるジェンダー、日本のジェンダーを巡る状況
・社会起業家分野：基本的なニーズに関連する社会起業
・国際関係分野：開発の文脈における日本と東アジアの関係、NGO、INGO、国連などの開発に従事するアクターがもたらす影響
 
Overview of the course   
This interactive course will deal with 'Development' as the umbrella theme, which is related to everyone for our future. To understand this umbrella theme more comprehensively, this course tackles five distinctive perspectives by looking at concrete cases in the world as well as Japan. Those perspectives include:
- education in relation to the role of teachers, the technology use,
- environment in relation to energy, disaster and the role of business enterprises,
- gender in relation to development, Japan's situation,
- social entrepreneurship in relation to the basic needs;
- international relations between Japan and East Asia in the context of development; the impact by actors engaged in development such as NGOs, INGOs and United Nations.

成績評価の方法・基準   
各スロットで簡単な課題が出されます。それらの課題の提出は5ポイント（合計75ポイント）に相当します。その内容の質により、課題あたりさらに1〜2ポイント獲得できます。
 
Grading system for assessment   
Students are asked to do a simple task in each slot.
Submission of a simple task of each slot is worth 5 points (in total 75 points).
If students provide quality contents, you will have a chance to get 1-2 additional points per task.

1）オンライン非同期（オンデマンド）
8/1（月）に非同期のコンテンツをご利用いただけるようにしますので、8/31（水）までの間に、すべての非同期セッションに必ず参加してください。

2）オンライン同期（リアルタイム／Zoom）
リアルタイムのオンラインセッションは以下のように開催されますので必ず参加してください。（JST：日本時間）

1日目：9/7（水）朝 8:30〜11:30
2日目：9/8（木）朝 8:30〜11:30
3日目：9/9（金）朝 8:30〜11:30

注意事項：
* オンラインプラットフォーム：オンライン非同期（オンデマンド）では、SlackとYoutube、オンライン同期（リアルタイム）ではZoomを使用します。
* TP-COILのパートナー大学であるアメリカの大学の学生もこのクラスに参加する可能性があります。
* リアルタイムセッションのスケジュールは、PSTでは以下の通りです。
