MARK Craig, Monday] The main goal of the course is for students to improve both their speaking and writing skills in an academic context (cross-supplemented with some listening and reading skills). By the end of the course, students should be able to:
- improve their English speaking ability - improve their English writing ability - improve overall English vocabulary - improve overall English fluency - develop critical thinking skills for both speaking and writing - apply the above skills to analyze current affairs and global topics.
[KOBAYASHI Mieko, Thursday] To develop four skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing) through practical topics. To be able to organize thoughts/ideas, provide opinions and discuss various topics.

[MARK Craig, Monday] The course will cover various topics from the textbook relating to academic and international issues. Students will utilize and develop their speaking and writing skills to explore these topics, by active participation in class activities. Students will also be required to complete any homework assignments, and prepare a short presentation and essay for the end of semester, on an topic related to one of the weekly subject areas.
[KOBAYASHI Mieko, Thursday] In this course, students will engage in activities that focus on four skills (reading, listening, speaking, writing). Students are expected to work in team on various group projects and present the outcome of their team work.
