Title(English)
Interactive English: Production

Goals of the course
This course develops students' English speaking and writing through real action. Following the Life Experiments Protocol, students carry out small weekly experiments in their own lives and report on them in English. Over 13 weeks, they identify a real everyday problem, talk to the people it affects, and build, test and share a small digital resource that helps someone. By the end of the course, students will be able to: (1) give clear, honest spoken updates in English supported by evidence; (2) write short practical English texts such as project statements, polite messages, invitations and product descriptions; (3) interview people and turn their feedback into improvements; (4) use generative AI responsibly to draft and check English without inventing information; and (5) present a finished product in a 60-second English video.

Overview of the course
The course follows the Life Experiments Protocol in four phases: Reset (Weeks 1-3: practising action), Choose (Weeks 4-6: choosing a project through real conversations), Build (Weeks 7-9: building and sharing a first version) and Release (Weeks 10-13: user testing, launch and final presentation). Each class launches a weekly experiment. Students review the previous week's results in pairs, read a short chapter, start the new action in class and practise the English they will need. Outside class, students complete the action, save evidence, turn their Japanese notes into a short English script with a provided AI prompt, record a 30-second English update and give feedback to one classmate. The course ends with a portfolio and a 60-second English video demonstrating each student's product. Classes are interactive and conducted in English; Japanese may be used for planning and notes.

Grading system for assessment
Weekly experiments (on-time action and honest evidence, with a 30-second English update): 40%; Peer feedback and class participation: 20%; Final product, portfolio and 60-second English video: 20%; ELC: 20%. Grading rewards action and honest reporting, not talent or popularity. Results of zero, honestly reported, still earn credit.

Preview/review
Each week, students complete a small real-world action, usually within 24-48 hours of class (some tasks run over 48-72 hours). They save evidence, write a short English script from their own notes, record a 30-second English update and review one classmate's submission. From Week 7, students also build, test and share their project, and in Week 13 they prepare a portfolio and a 60-second English video. All work is submitted on Google Classroom.

Notes
Bring a smartphone to every class. All tools used are free; no purchase or paid subscription is required, and selling any product is optional. Do not include other people's names, faces or private messages in any evidence. Generative AI may be used to draft and check English as instructed, but students must check all content and must not submit invented information. Students without a smartphone should talk to the instructor in the first week.
