United Nations Study Programme

授業の目標

1) 国連の基本的な役割、機能について理解が深まる。
2) 国連がどのように世界の動きとかかわり、地球的課題に取り組んでいるのか理解することが出来る。
3) 世界で起こっている多様な問題を知ることにより、地球市民としての自覚を持つ。
4) 英語を用いて能動的に質疑が出来るコミュニケーション能力を身につける。

Goals of the course

1) Students will understand the fundamental roles and functions of the United Nations.
2) Students will become versed in key global issues and learn how the United Nations has approached those issues.
3) Students will develop an identity as a global citizen.
4) Students will enhance communication skills in English through active participation in discussion.

授業の概要

国連は、世界平和と発展のために、地球的規模の問題や国家が単独では解決できない様々な問題に取り組んでいます。本プログラムでは、国連が担う基本的な役割や機能について学ぶことを目的としています。平和構築、持続可能な開発、人道危機など、国際社会が直面する緊急課題に、国連がどのように取り組んでいるか理解を深めます。また、世界各地で発生している多様な事象に触れることにより、地球市民としての自覚を持ち、グローバルな視点から国際問題を理解する力を養います。なお、本プログラムは、二ューヨークの国連本部において現役の国連職員より直接ブリーフィングを受ける海外研修を含みます。国連などの国際機関、外務省や国際協力機構など、将来国際的な舞台で活躍することを希望する学生への導入的なプログラムでもあります。

Overview of the course

This is the intensive programme for students who wish to enhance their knowledge on global issues by learning about the roles and functions of the United Nations. Since its establishment, the UN has been the centerpiece of world order, playing a preeminent role in issues of international peace and security, sustainable development, human rights and humanitarian affairs. The students will learn about a wide range of emerging issues from a global perspective, and how the UN has approached those issues.
The core part of the programme is a series of lectures by UN officials who will share own experiences in respective area of expertise through direct interaction with students at the UN Headquarters. In addition, there will be a lecture at the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations on Japan’s diplomacy at the UN system. The programme can serve as an introductory course for those who wish to pursue a career in international community, as international civil servant, diplomat or expert in international cooperation.

※	秋学期に開講される「世界教養プログラム：国際社会をひもとくB（180060） / 国際社会と地域２（19180020）：国際連合とその難民機関」において、ALH1で国連が取り組んでいる課題の中から興味のあるテーマについてレポートを書き、ALH2でグループで情報を共有し討論する。国連研修までにさらに個人として探求したいテーマを考え、その探求を深めるために国連で聞きたい質問を作成する。	In "Global Liberal Arts Program: Analysis of International Society B (180060)/ Global Society and Local Society 2 (19180020): The United Nations and its Refugee Ageny" offered in autumn term, write a report on a theme among the issues that the UN is working on (ALH1) and conduct a group sharing/discussion (ALH2). Before the study tour, consider a theme that will be further studied individually and formulate questions to ask at the UN to facilitate the study.

成績評価の方法・基準

事前準備の学究（15％）、海外研修時における参加状況（40％）、研修後の公共報告会（15％）、最終レポート（30％）

• 国連のホームページ(www.un.org)、国連広報センターのホームページ(www.unic.or.jp)を用いて、現在注目されている地球的課題について基礎的な知識を身につけておくこと。
• 外務省のホームページ（http://www.mofa.go.jp/mofaj/gaiko/un.html）を用いて、日本の国連外交について基礎的な知識を身につけておくこと。

• Visit the homepage of the United Nations (www.un.org), UN Information Center (www.unic.or.jp) and become familiar with contemporary global issues.
• Visit the homepage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (http://www.mofa.go.jp/mofaj/gaiko/un.html) and become familiar with the Japanese multilateral diplomatic policies.

履修上の注意

• このプログラムは、約一週間の、NY国連本部におけるブリーフィングを含みます。プログラムを通して、英語による積極的な質疑、討論への参加が望まれます。
• 秋学期に開講される「世界教養プログラム：国際社会をひもとくB（180060） / 国際社会と地域２（19180020）：国際連合とその難民機関」の受講を必須とします。
• 状況により、スタディ・ツアーはZoomによるオンラインのスタディ・プログラムに変更となる可能性があります。

Notes

• The programme includes one week travel to NY in order to receive briefings from the UN staff at the UN Headquarters. Throughout the programme, students are strongly encouraged to participate actively in each session, ask questions as needed and offer relevant comments.
• It is required to take ""Global Liberal Arts Program: Analysis of International Society B (180060)/ Global Society and Local Society 2 (19180020): The United Nations and its Refugee Ageny"" offered in autumn term as a prerequisite for this course.
• Depending on the situation, the Study Tour may change to a Study Program conducted online via Zoom. In that case, the course contents may change.
