授業の目標   
中東（西アジア・北アフリカ）地域、とりわけアラブ地域の歴史（近現代史）、社会、文化、政治を理解するための思考力・方法を身につけることを目的とする。
 
Goals of the course   
The goal of this course is to acquire the thinking ability and methods to understand history (modern history), society, culture and politics in the Middle East (West Asia and North Africa), especially the Arab region.
 
授業の概要   
世界史、地理、政治、経済についての基本的（高等教育レベル）な知識を有する学生を対象とする。
 
Overview of the course   
This course is targeted for students with basic (higher education level) knowledge of world history, geography, politics and economy.

成績評価の方法・基準   
出席状況およびレスポンス・シート（毎回、授業終了時に提出）の内容から総合的に判断する。具体的には、各回の講義内容の理解度、講義内容に関する所見を鑑みたうえで、アラブ地域の個別的特質、通史（とりわけ近現代史）への認識がどの程度深まったか、そして講義でとりあげた事象を理解するための思考力・方法がどの程度身についたかを判断、評価する。
 
Grading system for assessment   
Attendance and the content of response sheets (to be submitted at the end of each class) will be comprehensively evaluated. In more concrete terms, in view of the level of understanding of the content of each lecture and the opinions about the lecture content, to what extent the students have deepened their understanding of the distinct characteristics and the history (particularly modern history) of the Arab region and acquired the thinking ability and methods to understand the phenomena discussed in the lectures will be judged and evaluated. Given the evaluation policy above, any lateness or absence will not be tolerated unless there is a special reason.

受講者はアラブ世界情勢や国際情勢についての情報に常に触れ、知見を深めること。
 
Preview/review   
The students are required to constantly access information on the situation of the Arab region and International community to extend knowledge.
