The goal of this lecture is to give an overview of Oceania, particulary Melanesia.

Cultural and social differences in Oceania, particulary Melanesia, concerning history, language, subsistence, economy, social structure, politics, religion and so on, will be explained in detail.

オセアニア全般に関するレポート（50%）と民族誌映画に関する二つのレポート（50%）により評価する。

Course grade will be determined by a paper on Oceania in general (50%) and two film review papers on Melanesia (50%).

教員の指示にしたがって、参考書等を利用しながら、受講前の予習と受講後の復習を行うこと。

Students are required to prepare for and review each lesson using reference books on Oceanic and Melanesian studies.

オセアニア地域の多様性を十分に理解する事が必須となる。

Cultural, social, and hitorical differences of the Oceanic islands and Australia must be mastered.
