Overview of the course
[O'DONNELL David, Jan.26,28,30]
In the seven sessions of this course we will watch more than a dozen short films with the goal of expanding our perception beyond simple entertainment to comprehending them as insightful cultural artifacts that give us unique windows into different perspectives and into the zeitgeist of different times and places. We will also reflect on the intersectionality of identity and how our backgrounds and experiences influence us as both consumers and creators of art.

[STROUD Robert, Feb.2,4,6]
Classes will involve the analysis and practice of discussions and debates in English. The appropriate structure and language use to take part will be taught and students will learn to confidently express themselves more and more across the seven classes. The final day will finish with a discussion and debate test to help review all of the skills learned and help students retain them for future use.

Preview/review
[O'DONNELL David, Jan.26,28,30]
Please watch assigned movies before class and do other assignments as asked. Students will prepare a group presentation and a collaborative ALH, so they should communicate with each other outside of class regularly (through their Film Production Whiteboards (FPWs), e-mail, SNS, etc.). This course will use Google Classrooms and Canva Whiteboards, so students should make sure that they understand well the workings of both platforms (explanations will be given in class, and students may ask for clarification at any time).
